Position Available. The Spencer-Penn Centre is currently seeking a Community Kitchen Marketing Manager. If you are interested in applying, please read the position description and submit an application to the Centre by May 30, 2012.

Cooking Classes for Kids. The Virginia Cooperative Extension is sponsoring a three-day cooking experience for children ages 6-12 on June 19-21, 2:00-4:00pm, at the Centre. Preregistration and prepayment by June 1 is required. See the event flyer for more information.

What Is a Culinary Incubator?

The Spencer-Penn Community Kitchen is a state-certified commercial kitchen available for rent to budding chefs, caterers, and entrepreneurs interested in marketing retail food products (as well as canners who need to process large volumes of produce and cooks who need to cook for large groups or a special event). We offer many special advisory services, such as business planning, certification processes, contacts, and necessary forms. Using a certified kitchen is required when making food for public consumption. By utilizing the facility here, you have very little start up costs to get your business up and running. Rental of the kitchen is hourly and can be used full-time, part-time, or seasonally. You no longer have to worry about the kitchen certifications required by the health department because we have taken care of that for you. We have trained staff that will help you in developing and launching your business.
